Invitation to the Centenary Events: the Opening of Exhibition “Created Lithuania Together” and Celebration of the Centennial of the Restored Lithuania

On the eve of the Day of Restoration of the State of Lithuania, we open exhibition “Created Lithuania Together”. The exhibition is to introduce the national minority communities of Lithuania and their input into the statehood making. The exhibition will speak about the national minorities’ fight for independence, cultural standing and path to international recognition.

The event will take place on the 15th of February 2018 at 14:30 in the House of National Communities, Raugyklos street 25, Vilnius.

The exhibition covers the period from the 15th century to nowadays and informs a visitor about significant milestones in the history of national communities in Lithuanian and English. It speaks about essential historical events of the national minorities at different historical period and presents historical personalities – the representatives of national minorities – who promoted Lithuania through their jobs in the state making, and fighting for freedom and independence.

The exhibition is prepared in cooperation with students and lecturers of Vilnius University Faculty of History, Office of the Chief Archivist of Lithuania, the Wroblewski Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and Martynas Mažvydas National Library of Lithuania. Museums, archives and libraries of Lithuanian cities and towns also participated in preparation of the exhibition.

The travelling exhibition will take place throughout the year in schools, libraries, exhibition halls, cultural centres and other vicinities across Lithuanian cities and towns, such as Kaunas, Visaginas, Kėdainiai, Klaipėda and Alytus, Šalčininkai, Eišiškės, Jašiūnai, Marijampolė, Vilnius, etc.
