Ms Vida Montvydaitė took up her appointment Director of the Department Of National Minorities To The Government Of The Republic Of Lithuania 1st July 2015.

She pursued her professional career in international activity of public administration sector and relationship of Lithuanian institutions and foreign organizations. Her experience in administration management, international cooperation, including academic work is substantial. 
From 2002 to 2009, Ms Montvydaitė served as a Deputy Director of the Department of National Minorities and Lithuanians Living Abroad under the Government of the Republic of Lithuania. She was responsible for initiatives and implementation of the Government Diaspora policy, preparation of strategic plans, and planning of financial funding. She joined governmental work groups for drafting legal acts, programmes and strategies regarding national minorities’ rights protection and migration policy.

Further appointments have been as project "Academy of World Lithuanians" coordinator in Vytautas Magnus University from 2010 to 2012. Ms Montvydaitė focused on a theory of World Diaspora policy and practice of its implementation, history and specifics of Lithuanian communities abroad and national communities in Lithuania, international communication issues. She has much cooperation experience with Lithuanian and Foreign diplomatic representatives. Ms Montvydaitė was a constant participant in Lithuanian institutions international negotiation work groups on national minorities’ issue. 

From 2013 to 2015, she served as Minister-Counsellor of Consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Sejny (Poland). Ms Montvydaitė ran the Consulate work in provision of consular assistance for Lithuanian citizens as well as constructive relationship with institutions of Polish Government.

Ms Montvydaitė participates in international science applied research projects. She was one of the founders of Lithuanian Migration and Diaspora Studies Master degree programme in Vytautas Magnus University and a lecturer of State Diaspora policy.
Vida Montvydaitė is the recipient of a Doctor of Philosophy in Humanities and a qualified historian. She is involved in expert activity. Ms Montvydaitė has published several scientific articles on Diaspora history, politics and ethnic identity.
