The Exhibition of the Constitution of 3 May

2021 05 07

In commemoration of the 230th anniversary of the Constitution of Lithuania and Poland and the adoption of the Mutual Pledge of the Two Nations, the Seimas adopted a Resolution on Designating 2021 as the Year of the Constitution of 3 May and Mutual Pledge of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations. The Department for National Minorities to the Government of the Republic of Lithuania cooperate with state institutions, academic community, and nongovernmental organizations to commemorate this date through special events. One of them was the opening of the touring exhibition in the Cathedral Square of Vilnius 3 May 2021. This exhibition reveals the story of a key decision made by two nations in 1721. The representatives of Lithuanian and Polish institutions, H. E. ambassador of Poland to Lithuania, creators of the exhibition and other honourable guests took part in the event.

This exhibition is presented by the Lithuanian Institute of History. The Department for National Minorities partially funded the creation of this exhibition and its display in different vicinities in Lithuania and abroad in traditional and online format for non-commercial purposes. The Department has also provided partial funding to run educational activities and prepare a study work to show the importance of the Constitution of 3 May.
